Product Functions
1. Flocculation: Anionic Polyacrylamide (APAM) facilitates the flocculation of suspended particles in water through the mechanism of charge neutralization.
2. Thickening:APAM products possess a high molecular weight, enabling them to increase the viscosity of aqueous solutions. Under alkaline pH conditions, they can form a semi-reticular structure, resulting in a pronounced thickening effect.
3. Drag Reduction: The addition of trace amounts of Anionic Polyacrylamide can significantly reduce fluid frictional resistance; this makes it suitable for applications such as oilfield water injection and drilling fluids.
4. Binding: Polyacrylamide exhibits excellent adhesive properties, making it suitable for use in the textile, papermaking, and incense manufacturing industries.

Precautions for Use
1. Solution Concentration: Since anionic polyacrylamide possesses a high molecular weight and high viscosity, care must be taken during preparation to ensure the concentration is not excessively high; this prevents motor overload caused by excessive resistance during agitation.
2. Dissolution Vessels: Polyacrylamide undergoes degradation upon contact with iron-based materials; therefore, it must be dissolved in vessels constructed from plastic, ceramic, or stainless steel.
3. Agitation Process: During dissolution, the molecular chains of PAM are subjected to shear forces, which can lead to chain scission, accelerated degradation, and compromised performance. Consequently, it is essential to carefully control both the mixer speed and the dissolution duration. Furthermore, for conveying the solution, a screw pump should be selected rather than a centrifugal pump.
Packaging and Storage
- Polyacrylamide is typically packaged in 25 kg paper-plastic composite bags; however, ton bags are also available upon customer request.
- As this product is classified as a general chemical, it may be transported via road, sea, rail, or air. During transport, precautions should be taken to prevent damage to the packaging and exposure to moisture.
- When handling polyacrylamide dry powder, care must be taken to protect it from moisture; prolonged exposure to the air will result in moisture absorption and caking. It should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated environment.
