High Purity Coconut Shell Charcoal Granular Gold Recovery Activated Carbon

Activated Carbon - Overview

Activated carbon, also called activated charcoal, is a form of carbon commonly used to filter contaminants from water and air, among many other uses. It is processed to have small, low-volume pores that greatly increase the surface area available for adsorption or chemical reactions.

Types of Activated Carbon

Powdered activated carbon
Powdered activated carbon is made of high-quality charcoal and refined by a special production process. There are two main methods: physical method and chemical method. After steam activation, it is refined and crushed. This product has the appearance of black powder and is insoluble in general solutions. It is odorless and tasteless, has a large specific surface area, strong adsorption capacity, high purity, fast filtration speed, stable quality, and has flocculation and filtration-aiding effects.

Fruit shell activated carbon
Select high-quality coconut shell, apricot shell, peach shell, walnut shell and other hard fruit shells as raw materials, and use advanced carbonization, activation, superheated steam catalysis and other processes to refine. The appearance is black amorphous particles. It has the advantages of developed pore structure, large specific surface area, strong adsorption capacity, high mechanical strength, small bed resistance, good chemical stability, easy regeneration, and durability.

Columnar activated carbon
Using high-quality anthracite and charcoal as raw materials, it is refined through advanced processes such as carbonization, activation, superheated steam catalysis, and adding appropriate amounts of adhesives. It has the appearance of black columnar particles. It has the advantages of developed pore structure, large specific surface area, strong adsorption capacity, high mechanical strength, easy regeneration, and low cost.

Honeycomb activated carbon
Honeycomb activated carbon is a material used for air pollution control. It is made of high-quality coal-based activated carbon as raw material, pressed by a honeycomb mold, and activated and fired at high temperature. Honeycomb activated carbon can be widely used in various gas purification equipment and waste gas treatment projects. It can be used directly or placed in a purification cabinet or adsorption bed.

Material of Activated Carbon

The raw materials most commonly used to manufacture activated carbon are: soft woods (such as pine), mineral coals (lignite, bituminous and anthracite) and vegetable shells or pits (coconut shells, olive or peach pits, walnut shells).

Activated carbons made from soft woods form large diameter pores and are particularly suitable for decolorizing liquids.

Mineral coals. These types of carbons are made from mineral carbons, they tend to form a wide range of pores; they tend to be more suitable for applications where the compounds to be retained are of different molecular sizes.

Those based on hard shells or bones form small pores and are used in the treatment of gases or in the purification of water from wells.

Columnar Powdered Activated Carbon Adsorbent For Water Treatment

Craftsmanship

Pulverization

The base product, typically coal, is crushed into a fine powder.

Agglomeration

The carbon powder is reagglomerated (ie reformed) into briquettes under several tons of pressure.

Crushing

Briquettes are crushed to achieve the desired particle size.

Baking

Baked at temperatures up to 800 degrees F to remove VOCs.

Activation

Thermally-activated with exposure to temperatures up to 1900 degrees F. Activation is done within a controlled atmosphere using oxygen, stem, acid or salts.

Screened / Sorted

Separated by size, shape and use.

Applications of Activated Carbon

Air and Gas
Different kinds of activated carbon can be employed to filter gases. The specific form is chosen based on the intended outcome and includes cloth, pelletized, and granular activated carbon. Some of the most popular gas purification applications for activated carbon include removing hydrogen sulfide from natural gas and filtering breathing air in air-conditioning units. In this second application, activated carbon helps remove radon and odors from the recirculated air.

Mining
Activated carbon is also used in mining to recover precious metals, particularly gold. Due to its adsorbent nature, activated carbon is utilized in separating carbon from cyanide in the final stages of mining.

Food and Beverages
Activated carbon is used in the food and beverage sector to enhance the purity, fragrance, and taste of several foodstuffs and beverages, including concentrated juice. Sweeteners can also be decolorized and have unwanted by-products removed from them using activated carbon.

Water Treatment
Activated carbon is used in water purification as both a primary and tertiary treatment. For water purification, both granular and powdered activated carbon is used. In the initial treatment, the main purpose is to remove large particles and retain them. In the final stages of water treatment, activated carbon is used for taste and odor control.

FAQ

Q: What is activated carbon used as?

A: Activated carbon is used in a broad range of applications for both industrial and residential uses that include drinking water purification, ground and municipal water treatment, power plant and landfill gas emissions, and precious metal recovery.

Q: What is the best source of activated carbon?

A: Coconut shells are one of the most commonly-used raw materials for creating activated carbon. Activated carbon made from coconut shells are high in micro pores. In fact, roughly 85 to 90% of the surface area is micro pores.

Q: How long does activated carbon last?

A: Typically, a good activated carbon air filter lasts for about six months and would need to be replaced once every year. This duration is subject to the quality of the carbon shoes acquired from LifeSupplyUSA. Substandard filters would not last as long.

Q: What is the standard specification for activated carbon?

A: Activated carbon from carbonization temperature at 500°C has water content of 0,96%, ash content of 0,98%, volatile matter content of 19,30%, and fixed carbon content 79,72%.

Q: Are you a factory or a trading company ?

A: We are a factory and trading company at the same time.

Q: How about the quality of the products ?

A: Our products are of high quality and we have registered and reputable brands.

Q: What's our shipping ways ?

A: We can provide different types of shipping such as sea, air, and land.

Q: What is your terms of payment?

A: T/T 30% as deposit, and 70% before delivery. We'll show you the photos of the products and packages before you pay the balance.

Q: How about your delivery time?

A: Generally, it will take 20 to 30 days after receiving your advance payment. The specific delivery time depends on the items and the quantity of your order.

Q: What is your sample policy?

A: We can supply the sample if we have ready parts in stock, but the customers have to pay the sample cost and the courier cost.

Q: Do you test all your goods before delivery?

A: Yes, we have 100% test before delivery.
