Super absorbent resin SAP is a high molecular polymer with super water absorption and water retention capacity, with the appearance of beads and powder. It can absorb hundreds or even thousands of times its own weight of water and form a hydrogel. It can absorb and release water repeatedly and is often used as an agricultural soil stabilizer.

Depending on the raw materials and preparation methods, they are divided into two categories. One is the cross-linked product of acrylamide and acrylic acid copolymer, such as sodium polyacrylate, potassium polyacrylate, polyacrylamide, etc.; the other is the cross-linked product of starch grafted acrylic acid copolymer.

• Polyacrylamide: long service life, but the water absorption will decrease year by year.
• Sodium polyacrylate: high water absorption rate, fast water absorption speed, water retention performance is maintained for more than 2 years.
• Starch grafted acrylate: excellent water absorption rate and water absorption speed, but short service life.

It can increase the number of soil aggregates, thereby effectively improving the overall structure of the soil. Sodium polyacrylate absorbs and expands the water in the soil, binds the dispersed soil particles into blocks, reduces the soil bulk density, increases the porosity, and then regulates the water, air, and heat conditions of the soil, creating a good environment for the growth of crops.

Sodium polyacrylate can also significantly improve the water absorption capacity of the soil and increase the water content of the soil. This is because it contains rich electrolytic carboxylic acid groups, which can expand the network structure and increase the water storage space after absorbing water, thereby improving the water holding capacity.
