Agricultural water retaining agent is an organic high molecular polymer with a three-dimensional network structure. It can quickly absorb and lock rainwater or irrigation water in the soil, and then slowly release it for plants to absorb. It has water absorption and water storage properties and is widely used in agricultural and forestry crop planting, land desertification control and other fields.

Depending on the raw materials and preparation methods, they are divided into two categories. One is the cross-linked product of acrylamide and acrylic acid copolymer, such as sodium polyacrylate, potassium polyacrylate, polyacrylamide, etc.; the other is the cross-linked product of starch grafted acrylic acid copolymer.

• Polyacrylamide: long service life, but the water absorption will decrease year by year.
• Sodium polyacrylate: high water absorption rate, fast water absorption speed, water retention performance is maintained for more than 2 years.
• Starch grafted acrylate: excellent water absorption rate and water absorption speed, but short service life.

• Water retention and water conservation: Water retainers can effectively inhibit soil moisture evaporation, reduce soil erosion, and increase soil saturated water content.
• Fertilizer retention: It can fix fertilizers and pesticides dissolved in water, reduce nutrient loss, and improve water and fertilizer utilization.
• Soil stabilizer: Through water absorption expansion and water loss shrinkage, the soil becomes loose, the porosity is increased, and the permeability is improved.
• Heat preservation: Regulate the temperature difference between day and night in the soil and reduce heat loss.
