Product Classification

There are many types of defoamers, which can be divided into the following categories based on their structural characteristics and type:

1. Silicone Defoamers

Polydimethylsiloxane (also known as silicone oil) is the main component of silicone defoamers. Silicone oil has a lower surface tension and is suitable for both water-based and oil-based foaming systems. Silicone defoamers are currently widely used as they offer a combination of effectiveness and cost-effectiveness.

2. Polyether Defoamers

Polyether defoamers are nonionic surfactants with excellent defoaming and antifoaming properties. They are non-toxic, poorly soluble in water, but readily soluble in organic solvents. They can be used alone or in emulsions.

Polyether defoamers are one of the most important types of defoamers. They are non-toxic, odorless, non-irritating, and easily dispersible in water. In addition to general industrial applications, they can also be used in the food, fermentation, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries, making them irreplaceable to silicone defoamers.

3. Mineral Oil Defoamers

Mineral oil defoamers are chemical additives primarily used to reduce or prevent foaming during industrial processes. These defoamers typically use oil as a carrier. To enhance performance, mineral oil defoamers may also contain surfactants to improve emulsification and diffusion within the foaming medium.

Mineral oil defoamers are widely used in various industries, including textile processing, coatings and ink production, pigments and dyes, pigment emulsions, pulp processing and finishing, and water treatment, where silicone defoamers are unsuitable.

4. Fatty Alcohol Defoamers

Fatty alcohol defoamers are oil-in-water defoamers composed of specialized hydrocarbon compounds, a small amount of synergists, emulsifiers, and dispersants. Because they contain no silicone, fatty alcohol defoamers do not leave residual silicone residues. Their advantages include rapid penetration and diffusion into liquids, and stable defoaming performance under high temperatures and strong alkaline conditions. When formulated into emulsions with the aid of appropriate emulsifiers, fatty alcohol defoamers also offer excellent degassing properties. Fatty alcohol defoamers are widely used in papermaking white water, sewage treatment, ink, paper coating, chemical industry, medium and high temperature spray cleaning industry, etc.
