1. The Impact of Dissolution Time on Flocculation Performance
Solid polyacrylamide is in granular form and needs to be dissolved before use. The time required for complete dissolution varies depending on the product type and specifications. To dissolve polyacrylamide, use clean water. Slowly and evenly pour the polyacrylamide granules into the stirring water according to the desired proportion. Over time, the polyacrylamide slowly dissolves in the water, and the viscosity of the aqueous solution also increases. This viscosity is related to the molecular weight of the polyacrylamide. When the polyacrylamide is completely dissolved in the water, the aqueous solution becomes transparent, indicating optimal solubility of the polyacrylamide.

2. Temperature's Effect on the Dissolution Rate of Polyacrylamide
Temperature significantly affects the dissolution time of polyacrylamide. If the water temperature is too low, the dissolution rate will be very slow. In this case, raising the water temperature can increase the dissolution rate. However, be sure to keep the water temperature below 40°C, as this will increase the degradation rate of the polyacrylamide.
3. The Effect of Molecular Weight on Polyacrylamide Viscosity
The viscosity of polyacrylamide increases with molecular weight. As the molecular weight increases, the polymer strands begin to interpenetrate, creating numerous contact points between the chains in the solution, giving the polymer a gel-like appearance. The higher the molecular weight, the more likely the molecules are to form entanglements, resulting in a higher viscosity for the solution.

4. Effect of Dosage on Flocculation Performance
When the dosage of polyacrylamide is too low, the flocculation effect is insignificant. When the dosage is increased appropriately, stronger flocs form, achieving the best flocculation results. However, if the dosage is too high, the water viscosity increases, resulting in excessive residual polyacrylamide. This also causes the sludge to form large flocs, making it difficult to remove the entrained water in the filter press, resulting in a high moisture content in the sludge cake.
