Anionic polymer flocculants can effectively treat wastewater from mineral processing, thus reducing wastewater treatment costs for enterprises. Currently, the most common wastewater treatment method for the mining industry in China is a process involving coagulation-sedimentation, activated carbon adsorption, and reuse. Experimental studies on wastewater from different mining sites have shown that even for the same type of mining wastewater, the treatment results can vary depending on the type of treatment agent used or the dosage of the same treatment agent.

Coagulation stage: Commonly used coagulants include polyaluminium chloride (PAC), polyferric sulfate (PFS) and alum. It is recommended to select the most suitable product through experimentation.
Flocculation stage: Polyacrylamide accelerates the rate of sedimentation of suspended matter. However, different mineral types have specific requirements for the degree of hydrolysis of polyacrylamide. It is necessary to select an appropriate hydrolysis degree indicator in advance. Generally, an input of 0.2 mg/L of PAM is sufficient.
Adsorption stage: The dosage of powdered activated carbon is less than that of granular activated carbon. Since powdered activated carbon is prone to enter the concentrate and will not accumulate in the water cycle, powdered activated carbon is usually chosen in larger quantities. The optimal dosage is generally between 50~100 mg/L.
After the beneficiation wastewater undergoes flocculation and sedimentation and is adsorbed by activated carbon, it can all be reused without affecting the beneficiation indicators.

Anionic polyacrylamide is commonly used in mineral processing wastewater treatment. Its molecular weight can reach 6-18 million. It absorbs suspended solids in the water through electrical neutralization, quickly forming larger flocs and accelerating the sedimentation of solid particles in the suspension.
Indicators of anionic polyacrylamide
| Appearance | White granules |
| Solid content | ≥88% |
| Molecular weight | 6 million - 20 million |
| Hydrolysis degree | 10 - 35% |
| Dissolution time | ≤90 min |
| Odor | Odorless |
| Toxicity | Non-toxic |
| Corrosiveness | Non-corrosive |
| Heat stability | Easily decomposes when the temperature exceeds 120℃ |

Polyacrylamide Usage:
Prior to use, polyacrylamide must generally be prepared into a 0.1% to 0.3% solution. Complete dissolution requires stirring at room temperature for 40 minutes. The prepared PAM solution should be used immediately and should not be stored for extended periods to avoid degradation.
Polyacrylamide Dosing Methods:
1. Gravity Dosing: Use gravity to add the agent to the sewage pipe, allowing the water flow to mix naturally.
2. Pressure Dosing: Use a water pump to add the agent to the pressure pipe.
