Polyacrylamide PAM is a high molecular weight organic flocculant that can be dissolved in water in any proportion. The aqueous solution is a transparent liquid. The main properties of polyacrylamide are flocculation, adhesion, rent reduction and thickening. It is widely used in oil extraction, papermaking, water treatment, mineral processing and other fields.

 

Classification of polyacrylamide

1. The product can be divided into emulsion polyacrylamide and granular polyacrylamide according to its appearance.

2. The product can be divided into cationic polyacrylamide (CPAM), anionic polyacrylamide (APAM), and nonionic polyacrylamide (NPAM) according to its ionic properties.

 

Application of polyacrylamide

  • Oil extraction field

The aqueous solution of polyacrylamide has a high viscosity and has thickening and flocculation effects. In oil extraction, it can be used as an oil displacement agent and drilling mud regulator to improve the oil recovery rate.

  • Water treatment field

Water treatment includes raw water treatment, sewage treatment and industrial water treatment. The powerful flocculation effect can improve the efficiency of sewage purification.

  • Papermaking field

Polyacrylamide can be used as a retention agent and dispersant in papermaking to improve the quality and strength of paper. The sewage generated by papermaking can be purified and treated to meet the emission standards.

  • Mineral processing field

In the mineral processing field, polyacrylamide can improve the effect of ore flotation and the recovery rate of metal minerals, while reducing the release of suspended solids and harmful metal ions in flotation wastewater and reducing environmental pollution.

 

Principles of using polyacrylamide

1. Polyacrylamide cannot be added directly to sewage and must be dissolved in water before use.

2. Use tap water to dissolve polyacrylamide. When the water temperature is below 5°C, the dissolution is very slow. When the water temperature is increased, the dissolution speed will be accelerated. When the water temperature exceeds 40°C, the polymer will be degraded faster, affecting the use effect.

3. The recommended dissolution ratio of polyacrylamide is 0.1%-0.3%.
